Wonder why a poet, memoirist and civil rights activist – basically an all-rounder felt like this? She suffered from a condition called the imposter syndrome.

What is the imposter syndrome?

Imposter syndrome can be defined as a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success. People who suffer from this syndrome have chronic self doubt and feel like they don’t really deserve their accomplishments. Atleast 75% of people experience the imposter syndrome in episodes.

Was CBSE’s move to reduce 30% of syllabus political or academic?

On July 7th HRD minister Ramesh Pokriyal announced that there would be a 30% reduction of the CBSE Syllabus only for the year 2020-21 for classes 9-12 due to the impact of the pandemic and the lack of time to cover every topic. For those who do not know, CBSE stands for Central Board of Secondary Education. It is a board of education in India for public and private schools managed by the Union Government of India.

There were many reports criticizing this reduction especially in subjects like Social Science. Some people even said that this was a deliberate move by the government. The big question was: is this move political or Academic?

Women and the Workplace: Are workplaces cut out for women?

I recently watched a movie called “Down With Love” – a 2003 rom-com set in the 1960s, in New York City. What stuck with me after watching the movie, was a dialogue by Vikki Hiller (played by Sarah Paulson):

This got me thinking… is it actually true that workplaces aren’t made for women? Are women merely accommodated in the workplace even in the 21st Century?
